Lent in My Sight

As the season of Lent draws to a close, I simply have to post this quick quip of a second grade student of mine. This child IS drama. Enjoy the following excerpt from a typical day with this child:

Kid: ARGH!

Me: What?

Kid: ARGH! (louder, if possible)

Me: Honey, STOP.

Kid: ARGH!!! (arms flaying, running around blindly)

Me: (grabbing her) I need you to stop freaking out - you're going to hurt someone or yourself. What's going on?

Kid: I HAVE LENT IN MY SIGHT!

Me: You have what in your what?

Kid: LENT in my SIGHT!

Me: What hurts?

Kid: My eyes! My eyes!

Me: Sweetie, what's in your eyes?

Kid: LENT! LENT!

Me: What's LENT!?

Kid: Little dust balls! AGH! AGH!

(after thinking a moment...)

Me: Do you mean you have lint in your eyes?

Kid: THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TELLING YOU!!!
