Share the Care

On Sunday, February 7th, Bethany will be participating in the national Souper Bowl of Caring event. After the 8am, 9am, or 10:30am services, everyone will head to the Fellowship Hall to enjoy ‘blessing’ biscuits and a bowl of soup.

There will be children holding soup pots designated for the Saints or the Colts. (Personally, I think that there should be a pot for Saints...and Sinners!) People will be able to drop $1 in their favorite team’s pot - we're also delivering some soup to neighbors, friends, or others we know that could use a caring visit and a hot bowl of soup.

The Souper Bowl of Caring is a youth-led, nation-wide event that raises money and food for hungry people throughout the USA. Since its start in South Carolina in 1990 over $60 million has been raised! This will be Bethany’s fourth year of participation and we have raised over $6,000 in the last three years. Our donations will go half to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal and half to Metro CareRing, our local food bank.

Everyone got into the joy of being bread for others (our focus and theme for Lent) last Wednesday - a room full of energetic teens and AAA Adults! (Affirming, Available, Authentic)

Metro CareRing will be able to feed a ton of people from all the work the Youth did last Wednesday. This was another part of the Souper Bowl of Caring project!

The Youth helped break down bags of beans and rice and boxes of oatmeal. We had some great assembly lines going as we measured out cup after cup of food, put it in dated ziplock baggies, and filled bag after bag for Metro CareRing.

Blurry or not, I love the shadows found in this picture!

Welcome to all the new members of Bethany!
Look at all those people! Awesome!
